About the challenge
Welcome to the third Ingenium STEM Hackathon and the first Ingenium STEM Hackathon of 2025, where the brightest minds come together to create, innovate, and provide education for learners of all ages. This Hackathon will cover majority of the summer and more, starting on Jan 17th at 12:00 AM EST and ending two months later on March 30th at 12:00 AM EST. Regardless of the amount of experience you may have, don't be shy to join our hackathon!
Requirements
What to Build
Note: To ensure fair competition, all submissions must be developed within the official timeframe of the hackathon. Projects that are created prior to this timeframe or have been used in previous hackathons or competitions will be disqualified and will not be eligible for judging.
For the Ingenium STEM Winter Hacks 1.0, participants are encouraged to create innovative and impactful projects that address various aspects of social good. Your project can take any form as long as it aims to make a positive difference in society. Here are some ideas to get you started:
- AI-Powered Disaster Relief Coordination System: Develop an AI platform that uses real-time data to optimize disaster relief efforts, improving response times and ensuring aid reaches vulnerable areas efficiently.
- Blockchain-based Transparent Charitable Donation Platform: Create a platform using blockchain to track donations and ensure transparency, allowing donors to see how their contributions are used and their impact.
- Smart Urban Farming System: Build an IoT-based system for urban farming that automates tasks like watering and lighting, helping city dwellers grow their own food sustainably.
- AI-Powered Refugee Integration Assistant: Design an AI tool that helps refugees access language resources, healthcare, housing, and job opportunities, easing their integration into new societies.
- Waste Reduction and Recycling AI Platform: Create an AI platform to help households and businesses identify recyclable materials and suggest alternative disposal methods, promoting sustainability.
- AI-Enhanced Accessibility App for Public Spaces: Develop an app that provides accessibility data for public spaces, helping people with disabilities navigate urban areas more easily.
- AI-Driven Environmental Conservation Tracker: Build a platform that uses AI to track and assess the effectiveness of environmental conservation efforts like reforestation and pollution reduction.
- Real-time Food Security Monitoring System: Create a system that tracks food availability and distribution, using AI to predict shortages and help organizations address food insecurity proactively.
- Mental Health Crisis Detection System: Design an AI tool that analyzes social media and user data to detect early signs of mental health crises and provide timely support resources.
- Community-Led Education Content Creation Platform: Develop a platform that allows communities to create and share educational content, enabling peer-to-peer learning and promoting equitable education.
Remember, your project should leverage technology to solve real-world problems and create a tangible impact on society.

For your submission to the Ingenium STEM Winter Hacks 1.0, please ensure you include the following:
- GitHub Repository:
- Share a link to your GitHub repository containing all the source code, documentation, and any other relevant materials. Ensure your code is well-documented to help judges understand your implementation.
- Include a README file with a clear description of your project, the problem it addresses, the solution, and the impact it aims to make. Provide setup and usage instructions.
- Google Docs (for No-Code Projects):
- If your project is a no-code solution, provide a comprehensive Google Docs file detailing your project. This should include the problem statement, your solution, the impact, and how it addresses the topic of social good.
- Include screenshots, diagrams, and any other relevant materials to effectively convey your project's features and functionality.
- Online Project Link:
- If your project is deployed and available online, provide a link to the live project. Use platforms like Vercel, Heroku, GitHub Pages, or any other hosting service to make your project accessible for the judges to view and interact with.
- Submission Video (Optional):
- You may include a video (up to 3 minutes) demonstrating your project. This video should walk through your project, highlighting its features, functionality, and user interface. Mention the technologies used and how it addresses the topic of social good.
- Upload the video to a platform like YouTube or Vimeo and provide the link in your submission.
Make sure your submission is well-organized and easy to navigate. Clear and thorough documentation will help judges understand and evaluate your project effectively. Good luck, and we look forward to seeing your innovative solutions for social good!
